Financial statements and reporting pack
Financial reporting

From trial balance to board-ready statements

When the books are closed, stakeholders still need reports they can trust: a balanced trial balance, a readable general ledger, aged debtors and creditors, and financial statements that follow the story of the period. Fine Books produces that pack for companies and for the practices that serve them — so management, lenders and your reporting accountant are looking at the same numbers, ready for FRS 102 or FRS 105 year-end work.

What is included

How we deliver this service for practices and companies

Preparation of trial balance

A balanced TB after journals, accruals, prepayments and control-account reviews. We document unusual movements so reviewers spend time on judgement, not hunting for the imbalance.

Preparation of general ledger reports

Account-level activity with enough narrative to explain payroll, VAT, fixed assets and related-party items. Export-ready for your accountant’s working papers.

Management of accounts payable / receivable

Aged AP and AR, supplier statement recs, credit-note control and collection visibility. You see who owes you, who you owe, and what is stuck in query.

Financial statements & reports

P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow views and management packs aligned to how you report. We prepare management accounts; statutory accounts remain with your qualified accountant where required.

Reporting that lenders and boards will actually read

Directors are asked for packs that answer simple questions: are we profitable, solvent, collecting cash, and within covenants? Fine Books designs reports around those questions. Variance comments, aged balances and a short narrative sit next to the statements so a non-accountant can follow the period without a two-hour walkthrough.

Month-end and year-end reporting packs

Control-account and balance-sheet recs

AP/AR ageing your credit team can act on

Practical questions

How we work with your accountant

We sit on the production side of the line. Statutory filings, audit opinions and regulated advice stay with the professionals you appoint. We keep the ledger, packs and evidence organised so they can work faster.

We produce the numbers and working papers that feed statutory accounts. Filing and sign-off sit with a qualified accountant or auditor as your engagement requires. Fine Books is the production engine underneath that process.

Most clients run monthly management accounts, with a stronger close at quarter-end and year-end. If you only need a year-end TB and GL for the accountant, we can work to that calendar.

We can maintain entity-level ledgers and a simple consolidation workbook. Complex IFRS groups still need your group accountant; we keep the source entities clean so consolidation is not a rebuild.

Bookkeeping captures the invoices. Accounts production makes sure control accounts, ageing and statements agree — and that unapplied cash or disputed items are visible before you report profit.
